Beijer Electronics has decided to start up a subsidiary in Shanghai, China. This start-up will reinforce Beijer Electronics' aggressive strategy as a global HMI products player after last year's acquisition of Hitech Electronics in Taiwan.
"We're very satisfied with the acquisition of Hitech Electronics, and the Chinese initiative is intended to benefit from the big development opportunities in the region through a local presence," reports Göran Sigfridsson, Beijer Electronics' CEO.
The primary purpose of the subsidiary in China is to service the market, support the group's sales and provide technical support in the country. This initiative means Beijer Electronics extending its sales and support resources in China
Through Hitech Electronics, the group has a local distributor in China. The new local subsidiary, will support Hitech's sales channel in the country. The initiative is also a link in the launch of Beijer Electronics new terminal series, EXTER, on the Chinese market. EXTER was launched in China at the Factory Automation Asia expo, held in Shanghai in late November 2005, where it attracted major interest.
The subsidiary in Shanghai will be staffed by local employees from China and Taiwan. Hiring the initial five employees is largely complete, and full operations are scheduled after summer 2006.
