2010 was an eventful year that reached its climax at year-end with two strategic acquisitions, one in the USA and one in Taiwan. More information is in Beijer Electronics' Annual Report 2010, published today on the company's website, www.beijerelectronics.se (http://www.beijerelectronics.se/).
Acquisitions of complementary companies on attractive markets are an important part of the company's growth strategy. The acquisitions of QSI Corporation of the USA and Korenix of Taiwan at the end of the year brought the company valuable complementary products, extra sales and distribution channels. This provides the company with a good base for continued expansion in the USA and Asia.
The company also made a major direct sales initiative in the year. New salespeople have been hired and the company has increased its geographical presence through new ventures in the UK, France and the USA.
In his comments on the year, President and CEO Fredrik Jönsson said:
"In 2010, we were able to reap the benefits of our hard work. We have strengthened our positioning in many parts of the world and the undiminished pace of our product development resulted in several exciting product launches in the year. Sales of proprietary products on the global market made strong progress in the year, not least on the Asian markets. The sales share of these markets grew 9% to 15%, and next year we expect a further increase, to over 20%.
